Windows 7 stuck on public network

The message I get is that the system is identifying the network but it just hangs until I get the feared yellow triangle with the exclamation mark. I used a static IP address, deleted the NIC driver, deleted route 0.0.0.0, etc., etc., etc. He told me that he had done everything possible and that this might be an ISO problem.įinally, I looked for fixes on different tech forums but so far I have not been able to connect to the network. Next I went on-line on my laptop and had a live chat with another HP Service Rep. she finally gave up, gave me a ticket number and told me to call later as she was going to find for a solution. We ran the Windows Troubleshooting (duh!), check the ipconfig, etc.

The next day (Saturday) I spent three hours on the phone with an HP Service Rep.

I turned it off, disconnected the wires, and finally, reset it. walked me through all the normal steps to fix the router (a Verizon MI424WR). When I was not able to do so, I contacted my ISP (Verizon). Three days ago I bought a new Hewlett Packard PC and ever since, I have been trying unsuccessfully to connect it to my home network (my setup is wired).
